The lake trail and its rare beauties

Kastoria's lake is a jewel that forms a unique landscape of natural beauty.

Taking a stroll through the lakes route is a must for visitors, not only for its beautiful scenery and magnificent photographic snapshots, but because it combines natural and cultural delights. We make stops at the old town, the historical district of Doltso with the typical mansions, the paths and the scattered post-Byzantine churches.

The architectural variety of the mansions and the traditional houses of the 18th and 19th centuries is one of the most impressive in Greece. We continue the route by the lake with the next stop being the Dragons cave – a unique sight of stalagmites and stalactites in a prehistoric natural cave.

The next destination is the convent of Mavriotissa or Messonisiotissa (as it was originally named) with its hagiographies to the 13th century and the chapel of Ag. Ioannis the Theologist of the 16th century.

Through the entire tour we are escorted by pelicans, geese, swans and ducks!

This tour is also wonderful when taken on bicycles (rental can be arranged by us for your tour).
